Where To Stay in New York City

Ah, New York City. The concrete jungle where dreams are made. I loved the week I spent in New York City in 2014 when I tried to visit a different area every day: from Brooklyn to Lower Manhattan to Central Park. Thanks to its popularity, the city is brimming with excellent accommodation options. But here are five boutique New York City hotels that might just work for you and your next city break.

5 great New York City hotels

Charm and free WiFi in Chelsea

For a hotel within the beautiful Chelsea district, check out Chelsea Savoy Hotel. It’s located close to the 23rd Street subway station, which makes getting around New York City a breeze. The hotel offers guests free Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast in the morning. Each room is equipped with a full bath and mini-refrigerator too. Rates start from just $100 for a standard room, making this hotel a great budget option.

A budget-friendly hotel for sightseeing

Another excellent budget hotel option in New York City would have to be La Quinta Inn. The hotel is impressively located just one block from the Empire State Building, which means it’s close to other Midtown Manhattan attractions too. Each guest has access to free Wi-Fi and La Quinta’s quintessential Bright Side Breakfast. There’s also an onsite fitness centre and convenient discounted parking for guests driving into the city.

Bring your furry friends on vacation

If you’re looking for apartment-style accommodation in Manhattan, the Affinia Shelburne hotel is for you. The hotel offers standard rooms, studios, and one and two-bedroom suites. Each suite has a kitchenette, while the standard rooms include mini-fridges. Guests will love the free wine happy hour, which happens from 5 to 6 pm daily in the lobby. Plus, if you enjoy travelling with your pet, the Affinia Shelburne happily accommodates furry friends.

Pamper yourself in New York City

The Omni Berkshire Place hotel is a great luxury accommodation option in New York City. The hotel has standard rooms and luxurious suites, which have a separate lounge area and multiple televisions. The Omni is great for families, as each child is supplied with a backpack of goodies upon arrival, and milk and cookies on the first night. There’s also an onsite gym, or you can work out in your room with the Omni’s Get Fit Kit. From the hotel, guests can walk to Times Square, Central Park and Fifth Avenue.

A quirky choice in Midtown

If you’re searching for a room with a difference, you should definitely check out Pod 39. The rooms come with twin beds, a queen bed, bunk beds, double bunk beds, and a combination of queen and bunk beds. Although the rooms may be compact they still include all the usual amenities, like televisions and private bathrooms. The hotel has a rooftop bar and lounge, which is popular with the younger New York City crowd. There is also an onsite restaurant called Salvation Taco, which is open from breakfast to dinner.
