5 Top Independent Hotels in Arizona

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please read the full disclosure policy here.

Here are 5 great Arizona hotels you need to visit.

Arizona: the home of the Grand Canyon, the infamous Monument Valley (a backdrop used in many Western films) and the Sonoran Desert. But as it turns out, the Southwestern American state is also home to some fantastic boutique hotels. Check out this guide to five of the best independent Arizona hotels.

5 great Arizona hotels

Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa

Nestled in Paradise Valley with stunning views of Camelback Mountain, the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort and Spa is a luxurious accommodation option. Along with the 105 Casitas, there are seven private homes on the property with their own game rooms, pools and patios. There’s also a world-class spa, meditation garden, fitness centre, outdoor pool and tennis courts for guests to enjoy. When visitors want to go and explore, they can organise to go on a guided tour of the Sonoran Desert or explore nearby Scottsdale.

Red Feather Lodge

For a budget-friendly motel close to the Grand Canyon, check out Red Feather Lodge. The lodge has a contemporary hotel and budget motel within its complex, but all guests have access to its many great facilities. These include an outdoor pool and spa, and a restaurant serving Mexican and American fare. If visitors stay during the summer, they can utilise the free National Park Shuttle as well. Close by guests will not only find the Grand Canyon but the National Geographic Visitor Center and an IMAX Theatre too.

The Wigwam

The Wigwam is located in the Phoenix suburb of Litchfield Park and is all about southwestern charm and style. Each guest room is decorated with vibrant throws and has a private patio with excellent Wigwam views. The hotel happens to be the only one in Arizona with a 54-hole golf course. It also has an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa onsite, nine tennis courts and two pools with private cabanas. The Wigwam has many dining options too: Litchfield’s, Red’s Bar and Grill, Wigwam Bar, and Tower Pool Bar and Grill. It really has it all.

Canyon Inn

Searching for a budget-friendly independent hotel in Flagstaff? Look no further. Canyon Inn has rooms from $50 per night, but that doesn’t mean guests miss out on the extras. There is free Wi-Fi and complimentary hot breakfast available daily. Guests also have access to coffee-and-tea-making facilities in the lobby, as well as the use of the microwave. Canyon Inn is equipped with a business centre, and laundry facilities, so all bases are covered. Plus your pet can come along too, for $10 a night.

Wyndham Flagstaff

For a stay in East Flagstaff, choose the Wyndham Flagstaff. Each of the 167 condominiums have kitchens, which include a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave and dishwasher. The hotel has great extras too, such as complimentary Wi-Fi and free laundry facilities. Wyndham Flagstaff is close to the Flagstaff Mall, Bushmaster Park and the Walnut Canyon National Monument. There is a full-service spa onsite, a restaurant, a bar, a spa tub and two seasonal outdoor pools.
